Working primarily in black and white pen and ink, as well as acrylic paint, Joanna creates dramatic, surreal compositions that invite viewers into intricate and mysterious worlds.
Her art explores scenarios and concepts that exist only within the realm of drawing, often withholding complete structure to provoke curiosity and a sense of ambiguity.
Music, for Joanna, is experienced as a three-dimensional form rather than mere sound—a perspective that infuses many of her works with a sense of rhythm, personality, and performance.
Driven by a lifelong aspiration to create complex, thought-provoking pieces, Joanna’s work manipulates perception and embraces the unknown.
Through her distinctive approach, she encourages viewers to question reality and discover meaning beyond the visible, offering a glimpse into the world as seen through her mind’s eye.
Statement
From an early age, Joanna has been drawn to the expressive potential of line. At eleven years old, her father gifted her a set of French curves—classic drafting tools that remain central to my practice.
With them, she crafts sweeping, harmonious lines, translating fluid ideas into tangible forms with precision and grace.
These curves are not merely instruments, but collaborators in her creative process, shaping the dialogue between intention and outcome.
Working primarily in pen and ink, she explores themes of femininity, duality, and transformation. Her work is a celebration of elegance, movement, and the intricate beauty found in both nature and human expression.
Each piece is built on the fundamental line, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and discover new details with every glance.
Art, for Joanna, is a conversation—a way to connect, to question, and to celebrate the complexity of life. Through her work, she hopes to inspire a sense of wonder and contemplation, encouraging others to find beauty in the unexpected and the everyday.
